Mansions of Pechersk
Pechersk has got its name from Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
The Pechersk town was initiated by Peter I who founded the old Pechersk fortress and the residence of the Kyiv governor.
The Empress Elizabeth continued his work by building the Royal Palace.
In the 18th-19th century the silk-lime gardens of Lavra were totally supplanted by the mansions of Kyiv nobility. Among them — the famous House of the Weeping Widow, the Chocolate and Arabian houses, the House with Chimeras.
